Chapter 10 illustrates the functions of politics that are used in policy deliberations. In addition to analyzing policies, writing proposals, and defending them to opponents, we now learn how to learn the policy enacting portion. In focusing on how to enact policy it allows us to secure the approval of certain policies that are favored in specific settings (Jansson, 2018). I think it is crucial for social workers to obtain this information because we are the ones who often advocate for clients in underserved populations. As mentioned in the text, though some people choose to become preoccupied with politics for the power driven aspect, that is not always the case for policy advocates. Policy advocacy on the other hand is used to help communities without personal gain.
